Northampton County Information
Welcome > Local Info > Northampton County Information ...

Northampton County is located along the eastern border of Pennsylvania, as a part of the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos. The Delaware River runs along the eastern edge of Northampton County, separating it from New Jersey. The county is one of the most industrially-oriented regions in the nation, producing anthracite coal, cement, and other industrial products. Bethlehem Steel, once one of the world's largest manufacturers of steel, was located there prior to its 2003 closing.

There are 2 cities, 17 townships and 19 boroughs located in Northampton County. Also within the county are 10 public school districts, 5 private area schools and a charter school. The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for Performing Arts is a 4-year Charter High School offering majors in Dance, Figure Skating, Instrumental & Vocal Music, Theatre and Visual Art. Northampton County is also home to Lafayette College, Lehigh University, Moravian College and Northampton County Community College.

Historic Bethlehem is a beautiful place to see as well. It is a city of nearly 72,000 people, known for its rich colonial and industrial history. Today, Bethlehem is experiencing an economic and cultural growth! There is city life, recreation, entertainment, history, and maybe most famous of all, Christmas. Don’t miss the “Bethlehem By Night” tour at Christmas!

The Sands Casino, located in Bethlehem, is the newest attraction in Northampton County. There are 3,000 slot machines, ranging from the penny slots to the high-limit room. Among the many dining options created for you in the casino, the first Emeril Lagasse signature restaurant in the Northeast is located here! You can also find live entertainment throughout the casino!

Other attractions in Northampton County include The Crayola Factory, a great treat for the whole family, there are 2 State Parks to enjoy, and the Lehigh Valley Zoo is just a quick hop away. Or catch a Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs game in Allentown, also right outside the county limits!

We also claim fame for being the home of Larry Holmes, The Rock, The Andretti Family (from professional racing), Christine Taylor (actress and wife of Ben Stiller), Daniel Day Kim (actor most famously known as Jin-Soo Kwon on the Lost series), and Brian Schneider (a professional baseball player for the New York Mets).

All this is an hour and a half or less from Philadelphia, New York City, Harrisburg & Wilkes-Barre! Whatever leads you to finding a new home in Northampton County, my team and I would love to help you find the perfect home for you and your family. I invite you use my website as a resource and call me if you have any questions about our area!

Real Estate Tips
Closing or Settlement >Handle Needed Repairs Early

There is a standard chain of events that occurs when an offer comes in on a home. After a meeting of the minds, the buyer often brings in a home inspector who may find a few items that need to be repaired. The real estate agent gives the homeowner a list of the requested repairs. What comes next?

In most transactions, the seller will take care of the repairs. Many sellers wait until the week before the closing to call someone to do the work, because they want to be sure that they are going to make it to the closing table before they spend money on repair work. If you are responsible for making repairs to a home you are selling, make sure you have the work done well in advance of the closing date by licensed professionals who will stand behind their work. If the work is done at the last minute and is incomplete or unsatisfactory, it could cause complications at the closing. You should provide the buyers with all the receipts and the names of the persons to contact in case there is a problem with the repairs.
